What happens when you bring together education, science, and community—AND make it free for everyone? You get CSU Spur, our campus in Denver that’s redefining how CSU connects communities.

Thanks to the generous support of donors like you, CSU Spur has quickly become a hub for innovative research and learners of all ages. Built with investments from the State of Colorado and made stronger by the generosity of the Morgridge Family Foundation, Ardent Mills, Leprino Foods Company, the Boettcher Foundation, Chevron Corporation, the Vilsack Family, and other individuals, CSU Spur is rooted in a mission of accessibility. Here are a few of the many ways the campus is enlivening our community and helping our world:
- Making science and agriculture accessible—and fun! Curious about pollinators, robotics, the science of taste, and more? In May, CSU Spur launched the second season of Wiz Kid, the whacky and wonderful YouTube series highlighting researchers from Spur, CSU, and across the state. Check out their episodes and share with a friend! And, in the Morgridge Learning Lab, Cam’s Ag Academy connects teachers and students around the state with hands-on learning focused on food, natural resources, and community health.
- Supporting students from the 80216. Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, each year students from Denver’s 80216 zip code receive support in their education through the CSU Spur Scholarship—and these students are thriving. Since 2021, more than $65,000 has been awarded to 19 recipients, with the first cohort graduating this spring and summer.
- Bringing the Ramily together. From hosting the Ramily Summer Celebration in May to marching in the Denver Pride Parade in June, the Spur campus brings us together and invests in community. On the 2nd Saturday of each month, the campus hosts free activities open to all and focused on learning: watching veterinarians at work, making music in the CSU Spur Music Lab, or cooking in the inventive CSU Spur kitchen. Pay a visit before the summer is out!
- Sparking discoveries that change the world. In May, CSU Spur hosted the One Health Conference, which brought together experts in human, animal, and environmental health to work across diverse disciplines and perspectives and ensure the future health of all living organisms. And Spur is not just a meeting place for researchers—the physical space itself serves as a platform for application. The agrivoltaics system installed on the rooftop of Spur’s Hydro building allows researchers to study how plants grow beneath and around solar panels to harness energy, produce food, and conserve water all at the same time.
From the donors and organizations who made this vision a reality, to the students, faculty, families, and community-members who cycle in and out of the campus each day, CSU Spur is a testament to the magic that happens when we bring our community together to reimagine the future.
