Congratulations on a Successful Day of Giving!
The third Love Your State Day of Giving was a tremendous success. The 24-hour give-a-thon to support CSU causes large and small raised $221,747 from 3,038 gifts and 1,554 donors, beating its goal of 3,000 gifts within seconds of the midnight deadline.
Gifts came from across the country, with only Kentucky and Delaware not represented. Gifts ranged in size from $1 to $10,000, with the average donation $73.
Last year, 1,974 donations totaling $127,245 came in; donors provided 766 gifts totaling $20,000 in 2015 in the inaugural year for Love Your State Day of Giving. So, in two years the number of gifts has increased by nearly four-fold, and the money raised has seen an 11-fold increase! Congratulations, Annual Giving!
College of Liberal Arts
Congratulations to Linny Frickman, the recipient of the 2017 Spirit of Philanthropy Award! Linny, director of the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art, is a champion for the arts at Colorado State University and is a vital partner of the College of Liberal Arts development team. She was the driving force behind the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art, collaborating on fundraising activities and projects since the establishment of the first University Art Museum in 2009. Linny played an integral role in securing the Hartford-Tandstad Collection, a 2011 gift valued at more than $1.5 million in priceless art that served as a catalyst for the expansion of the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art. Furthermore, the $2 million gift that supported the renovation, expansion, and naming of the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art wouldn’t have been received without the relationships built and strengthened by Linny. Congratulations to Linny and the College of Liberal Arts!
University Advancement Development
The regional team has been traveling a lot lately, which will continue through April. We are looking forward to a round of strategic meetings with our campus partners who we didn’t see in January and, as workbook planning commences, the regional team looks forward to identifying opportunities to collaborate with our campus partners. And finally, after an excellent search, Principal Gifts is excited to welcome Lydia McPeek to the team as our new assistant director of development! Her first day will be May 1.
Reminder: Please allow the Office of Gift Planning to close your planned gift proposals. The process is slightly different than other gift types. Proposals are updated weekly for gifts that have been booked.
Congratulations to Dan Westermann for closing two major gifts in March totaling $6 million!
The Office of Gift Planning has created a full-page ad for the CSU Magazine spring issue. We welcome all colleges to use this ad in their publications. It is our hope, in the near future, to have size and shape variations available.
Bill Sheets completed another Passport to Retirement course in the Denver area. The majority of the 126 attendees were CSU alumni.
