Message from the VP – June 2016

Brett Anderson, vice president for
University Advancement

Dear Colleagues,

June has always been one of my favorite months of the year, and not just because of the lighter traffic around campus. Summer officially kicks off in a few days, offering consistently warmer weather and great opportunities to enjoy all that Fort Collins and Colorado has to offer.

As we approach the new fiscal year, I hope you share in the profound sense of accomplishment of our division’s achievements. I want to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for your remarkable work. Thanks to your dedication and commitment, we continue to break records in fundraising for CSU. With just a couple weeks left in FY 2015-2016, we have raised more than $185 million (and counting) in private support! This is $13 million more than last year’s total and a sign of tremendous momentum for our campaign. The numbers really are jaw-dropping.

To continue to improve our effectiveness and efficiency, in the new fiscal year we have a real opportunity to transition our work to a more sustainable funding model. Starting July 1, we begin implementing our Advancement Investment Fee. This move, which has full support of President Tony Frank and the CSU Foundation Board, will slowly and steadily stabilize and transform what our division is able to do. I sincerely appreciate everyone’s time and effort to learn more and embrace this opportunity. Thanks to all of you who have been involved in the thinking and strategy around this plan, and for ensuring that the rollout will be a success.

As we close out this year strong, and look to the start of FY17, I’m excited about what we can accomplish. I look forward to working with you to explore new opportunities for continued growth and innovation, and think about how we can change even more lives with scholarships and groundbreaking programs and research. I count myself extremely lucky to work with some of the best in the business!

Summer on campus provides us some moments to breathe, reflect, and get charged up for the new challenges ahead. If you’re around town, I encourage you to check out upcoming activities, such as the Lagoon Concert Series. Take some time to relax at these events with friends and colleagues, and enjoy any vacations you have coming up.

Thank you, again, for another extraordinary year!

My best,

Brett
