CSU Events & Donor Engagement

CSU Events Says Goodbye to Kate Cooper and John Rogers

Kate Cooper

After nearly four years as assistant director, advancement events and donor engagement, Kate Cooper will be greatly missed as she takes on a new position at a neighboring company in Fort Collins. Her last day was May 31.

Since August 2013, Kate had taken part in an average of 50 events per year, totaling around 175 events with CSU. This impressive number has helped Kate to expand her knowledge of event planning and prepare her for just about anything. Due to “the scope of the events that I have done here and the different types,” Cooper said, “now I feel like you can hand me any kind of event and say ‘go plan it,’ and I could.”

One of Kate’s favorite CSU events to take a part in was the Ram Good Time Auction, and she has fond memories of Convocation, because it is the first official event that the students attend and a way to boost their excitement in being CSU Rams.

Looking back, Kate has a particularly fond memory of the team’s golf cart races around the Oval after Homecoming. Getting to celebrate a job well done with her team was always just what she needed after stressful weeks.

While she will miss her team and the events that became near and dear to her, she looks forward to staying in touch, as her new position is just a few short minutes away.

John Rogers

The Office of CSU Events & Donor Engagement will be missing the company and efforts of John Rogers, who is relocating to Athens, Ohio, with his partner. In December 2013, John joined the team and has been a part of the production of approximately 215 events during his time here at CSU. His last day is June 30.

“Historically, my favorite event has been the 1870 DINNER, because it’s the largest donor appreciation event,” said John. “During this event, I get to interact with a lot of people that I see at other events, which is nice.”

“My favorite part about working in this office was being able to talk to my teammates about problems or issues I was having with events,” he said. “There is such a strong network of talented people, and working so closely together enforced well-built bonds – we are family.”

Aside from working with CSU staff, John's job also provided him the role of advising the presidential student-ambassadors, which he valued because of their expertise and knowledge about life at CSU.

“They taught me as much as I was able to teach them,” he said. “It was a privilege to be their adviser.”

CSU Events will miss John not only for his work efforts and talents, but for his style and warm personality. “I will miss my team,” he said. “Everyone in the office is amazing, and I haven’t had the opportunity to work in an office where everyone works well together until I worked at the Office of CSU Events.”
