On-the-Spot Award Winners
We are excited to announce the recipients of the University Advancement On-the-Spot Award:
Betty Grace Mickey
I would like to recognize Betty Grace for her speedy approval of a last-minute e-mail sent out the Friday during Homecoming. It came to my attention midmorning that our Parent and Family Breakfast on Saturday could no longer be held in the LSC Theatre and needed to be moved to the LSC Ballrooms. I called Betty Grace to ask if we could send out a new event confirmation e-mail ASAP to inform our parents and families of the location change.
Not only was Betty Grace completely flexible and on top of the e-mail, she was also leaving the office early to volunteer at the Festival on the Oval. All of this in the midst of a busy Homecoming & Family Weekend. Thanks, BG!

I would like to nominate Linda for the R&D work she has done for the new scorecard method of determining the solicitation readiness score. The current method for determining the SRS score has been in place for five years. It utilizes a hard-coded program that can only be updated by one of the technical staff – kylan Marsh or Andrew Hackett. The new method involves a parameter-driven model that relies on weighted ad-hoc jobs for calculations. Using this approach will allow us to make changes rapidly and accurately when new measures of affinity, such as survey results, come into play.
The above-and-beyond work that Linda did was in the testing of the new variables that was required to make the ad-hoc job method work. There were no real guidelines for testing; much of this is through repeated trial and error. It requires communication with the technical as well as nontechnical members of the DAIS staff. The level of diligence and analysis required for this type of testing extends beyond the general duties of her position.
I also appreciate the low-key, positive energy Linda puts into her work. It makes for great collaboration.
