Thriving Community

Women and Philanthropy hosts several events and volunteer opportunities throughout the year that bring our community together to learn more about the exciting happenings at Colorado State University. We typically partner with other areas on campus to highlight the programs, research and impact.

Join Us for a Private Screening with ACT Human Rights Film Festival

Tuesday, Aug. 5, 5 p.m.
The Lyric
1209 N. College Ave.
Fort Collins, Colorado

Join Women and Philanthropy for a reception and private screening of
My Stolen Planet, featured at the 10th annual ACT Human Rights Film Festival. A panel discussion will follow, featuring women at CSU who create meaning and art through the power of storytelling. Learn how creative leaders across a range of disciplines are shaping their work.

My Stolen Planet is an intimate self-portrait of Farah, an Iranian woman who is forced to migrate to her private planet to be free. She buys other people’s memories in the form of super 8mm films and records and archives her own to create an alternative history of Iran. She captures moments of joy and defiance in her daily life, navigating the contrast between domestic freedom and external oppression.

Gather: Conversations to Inspire

Held on April 30, this year’s Gather focused on creativity and playfulness, featuring not only Dr. AnnMarie Thomas’s keynote but also a dynamic panel discussion with Dr. Anita Bundy, head of the Occupational Therapy department, Dr. Blythe LaGasse, professor of Music Therapy, and moderated by third-year student, Andrea Donlucas.

Designed to spotlight the research and achievements of women across the CSU community, the event emphasized the vital role of play at every stage of life—and the science that supports its benefits. One guest summed it up perfectly: “The subject—play—is not one you usually hear discussed on campus or elsewhere. It was refreshing, and I loved the research examples presented!”
